DC.Description |
This dress, bonnet and shawl all belonged to Marie Eleanor Bente who married Gerhart Henry Albers in 1865. The dress is thought to have been part of her trousseau, and the shawl acquired shortly after her marriage. Both families had emigrated from Germany around 1844. Gerhart Albers served in the Union Army during the Civil War and acted as a translator for German speaking troops. His name is inscribed on the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Public Square in Cleveland. | ||
